Twenty-five year-long journey of Thiruppukazh Isai Vazhiadu (TIV) in Thiruvananthapuram (TVM)
Systematic teaching of TIV in TVM started on Saturday, December 11, 1999 in our home in Sastri Nagar. A few weeks later, we started a second class on Sundays.
The Sastri Nagar classes were shifted to our Vinayaka Nagar home in December 2000.
Classes were then started in Karamana (2000), Puthenchantha (2000), Valiasalai (2001), Kollam (2007) and Thaliyal (2012).
From May 2020, all classes and bhajans are done online. These classes and bhajans are available on my Facebook Timeline and FB thALams group and YouTube.
Along with the classes, we started TIV Bhajans on Shashti Days in May 2000, in the Karamana Balasubramaniaswamy Kovil.
In 2001, we started Annual Bhajans in the Advaita Hall in Vinayaka Nagar. We conducted twenty annual bhajans.
A few years later, we started Aunagirinathar Day Bhajans on August 15th in Karamana.
Three Valli – Murukan thiruk- kalyANams were conducted in TVM in 2005, 2007 and 2012.
We organized bhajans in various temples in Tamil Nadu and Kerala from 2002 – in Thirupprangkuntram, ThiruchchenDoor, Pazhani, Swamimalai, ThiruththaNikai, PazhamuthirchOlai, Thiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram, Haripad, Mavelikkara, Vellimalai, Vayalur, Viralimalai, Pillaiyarpatti, Puliyurkurichchi, Trichy, sikkal, eNkaN, Ettukusi, etc.
In 2017, we made a short trip to Sri Lanka, where we offered TIV in Thrikkonamalai and Kathirkamam temples.
Guruji Shri AS Raghavan visited us in TVM in 2000 and 2002. Our Guru, Tara Mami came twice to TVM, in 2001 and 2007.
We published TIV Books in Malayalam in 2006. Printed copies were sold out in 2018. I have uploaded pdf copies of the TIV Book in Malayalam in my website : thiruppukazh.online
In 2016, the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi published a book, titled ‘Thiruppukazh’ in Malayalam, containing select 100 Thiruppukazh songs, KanDar alangkArams and kanDar anubhUthi. This book is available from KSNA Offices and various book stores.
As suggested by Guruji Raghavan, I have been teaching the thALams in TIV songs from 2000 in my classes. I gave lecture demonstrations on thALams in TIV in various locations, including the RLC MUsic College in Thripumithura, and the , Neelakanta Sivan Music Festival in TVM..

As part of introducing Thiruppukazh to the TVM community, I gave several lectures on topics like Life and words of Saint Arunagirinathar, the Power of Thiruppukazh, Kanda Puranam, Ramayanam and Mahabharatham in Thiruppukazh, etc.
